Watch Cyndi Honor Prince

Cyndi Lauper honored Prince during her concert at New York's Beacon Theater Wednesday with a performance of "When You Were Mine," the Dirty Mind cut she famously covered on her 1983 debut, She's So Unusual.
A fan-shot video captured the performance, which found Lauper striking a balance between her mid-tempo cover and Prince's energetic original. As she stomped and shuffled across the stage, Lauper unleashed her still-staggering vocals with an added emotional punch that mixed beautifully with the sweet-tooth synth line of "When You Were Mine."
Lauper is currently on tour in support of her new album of country covers, Detour, which includes standards like "Walkin' After Midnight," "Misty Blue" and "Heartaches by the Number." It also features duets with country luminaries like Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Vince Gill and Alison Krauss. Her Wednesday night concert was a co-headline with Boy George and included a stand-up performance by Rosie O'Donnell, who joined the duo for an encore performance of "Girls Just Want to Have Fun."
"I always felt like I missed out, because I was so busy being famous I couldn't go and experiment on all these things that everyone else did," Lauper told Rolling Stone about her late-career genre hopping. "For God's sake, I never even moved to New Orleans to write an album like Rickie Lee Jones did [recently]."
